Reminder - Revised ABN Form Mandated for Use Effective March 1, 2009CMS introduced and implemented use of the revised Advance Beneficiary Notice of Noncoverage (ABN) (CMS-R-131) effective March 3, 2008. Since that time, CMS permitted a dual acceptability period allowing use of the old versions or the revised version of the form until suppliers became better acclimated to the changes.Beginning March 1, 2009, notifiers must begin using the revised ABN (CMS-R-131) for all situations applicable to ABN use. CMS will no longer accept any previous versions of this form.The revised form and notice instructions are posted on the CMS Beneficiary Notice Initiative Web page at http://www.cms.hhs.gov/bni
