| Think Green and Go Paperless All Jurisdiction B Durable Medical Equipment Medicare Administrative Contractor (DME MAC) suppliers should sign up for both the Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) to receive the many benefits associated with these electronic transactions. The majority of our remittances and payments are currently sent electronically. Electronic Remittance Advices (ERA): ERAs are not required at this time but suppliers are strongly encouraged to sign up before it becomes mandatory. Suppliers using ERAs receive faster communication and account reconciliation, improved office productivity and a paperwork reduction, along with many other benefits. For more information and setup instructions go to: http://www.ngsmedicare.com/NGSMedicare/DMEMAC/Claims/EDI/ERA_EDIDMEMAC.aspx Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT): As of May 2006, it is a requirement that all new and current suppliers submitting a CMS-855S application to the National Supplier Clearinghouse (NSC) must receive EFT. Re-enrollment with the NSC occurs every three years. Based on the effective date of this requirement and the timing of re-enrollment, all DME MAC suppliers would have completed a new or updated CMS-855S and should also have signed up to receive their payments via EFT.
