Use of CR Modifier and DR Condition Code on Disaster/Emergency-Related Claims MLN Matters 6451
Claims processing requirements are updated and amended for the use of condition codes and modifiers on Medicare fee-for-service claims when the furnishing of an item or service to a Medicare beneficiary was affected by a disaster or other general public emergency. A new chapter is also established in the Medicare Claims Processing Manual and is dedicated to standing policies and procedures applicable to disasters and other public emergencies.

CWF Unavailable August 14, 2009 at 5 pm
The Common Working File (CWF) Hosts will be unavailable Friday, August 14, 2009, beginning at 5 p.m. due to the connection for the Great Western Host being transitioned from the current contractor to the Enterprise Data Center (EDC). Due to testing of the connection, the Host may be unavailable on Saturday, August 15, 2009, as well.

Medicare Provider Enrollment Reminder for Suppliers of DMEPOS
With the implementation of the surety bond requirements for certain suppliers of durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS) in October 2009, CMS reminds DMEPOS suppliers that each practice location of a DMEPOS supplier must be enrolled in the Medicare program.

New ZIP Code Tool on CBIC Web Site
