Clarification of the Overpayment Process National Government Services, the Jurisdiction B durable medical equipment Medicare administrative contractor (DME MAC) would like to provide clarification on the Overpayment process. Two articles have been developed to provide guidance on the Overpayment process. The purpose of these articles is to address the correct forms that are used and common errors that are seen by the Overpayment Recovery Unit. Understanding the Supplier Initiated Overpayment Process is now available on the What s New page of www.NGSMedicare.com. A supplier initiated overpayment occurs when the supplier has identified an overpayment in their records and voluntarily refunds the overpayment to Medicare.
