Termed Provider Transaction Access Numbers

TERMED Provider Transaction Access Numbers (PTAN)
As instructed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, DMEPOS suppliers subject to the accreditation/surety bond requirements were mandated to submit evidence to show they were in compliance with supplier standards 22-26 no later than October 2, 2009.  If the required accreditation/surety bond documentation was submitted to the National Supplier Clearinghouse (NSC) in a timely manner, the NSC transmitted a report to the DME MACs that systematically removed a flag from the claim payment system, which allowed the supplier s Medicare billing privileges to remain in an active status.
National Government Services, the Jurisdiction B DME MAC has identified that several suppliers records were not updated resulting in their PTAN numbers being deactivated in error.  The suppliers that have been impacted by this error have been identified and re-activated with no lapse in billing privileges (i.e., no change to effective date of PTAN).

Suppliers claims that were impacted by this error would have denied with ANSI-38 (services not authorized by designated network/primary care, providers ). Suppliers should resubmit any claims that received this denial indicated above.

National Government Services apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused. If you have any remaining questions or concerns regarding this issue please contact the Jurisdiction B DME MAC Provider Contact Center at 1-866-590-6727.
